First Benefits Insurance Mutual, Inc. is filed with the North Carolina Department of Insurance as an association-based insurance company that requires membership as part of eligibility. With over 25 years of experience specializing in workers’ compensation insurance First Benefits Insurance Mutual prides itself on personal service, sound underwriting and experienced claims management. First Benefits Insurance Mutual requires insureds, as well as agencies, to hold an active membership in an industry-related association or chamber of commerce.

As part of its organizational structure, First Benefits Insurance Mutual policyholders and agents are required to be members of one of the following organizations.

Please note: If you currently hold a membership in one of these organizations, you are eligible to purchase workers’ compensation insurance through First Benefits Insurance Mutual. If you do not have a current membership in one of the organizations, upon completion of the binding agreement, First Benefits Insurance Mutual will assign you membership to NC Retail Merchants Association or South Carolina Retail Association, whichever is applicable.

 

Participating North Carolina Associations

The North Carolina Retail Merchants Association (NCRMA) is the leading advocate and business resource dedicated to promoting a positive legislative and regulatory environment for the retail industry – enhancing members’ opportunities for success.

The Carolinas Food Industry Council (CFIC) serves the retail and wholesale food industries in both North Carolina and South Carolina. Headquartered in Raleigh, the Council serves more than 2,500 grocers in the Carolinas and has staff in both states.

The North Carolina Automobile Dealers Association (NCADA) actively represents nearly 600 new car, truck and motorized RV dealers. Headquartered in Raleigh, NCADA’s mission is to use their collective power to proactively preserve, protect and enhance the economic life, relationships and image of their members and the association itself.

The Automotive Service & Tire Alliance (ASTA) was formed in 2021 by the merger of the Independent Garage Owners of North Carolina and the North Carolina Tire Dealers Association.  ASTA the Southeast’s largest member-sponsored non profit association serving the aftermarket automotive industry

The North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild is a not-for-profit 501(c)6 tax-exempt organization comprised of brewers, vendors, retailers and craft beer enthusiasts focused on promoting North Carolina beer. North Carolina boasts the largest number of craft breweries in the American South, with more than 185 breweries and brewpubs. We are the State of Southern Beer.

The North Carolina Beer & Wine Wholesalers Association was founded in 1936 as a nonprofit trade association to promote and protect the general business interests of beer and wine distributors in North Carolina. NC beer and wine distributorships are locally owned and operated businesses.

The mission of the North Carolina Christmas Tree Association (NCCTA) is to promote “real” Christmas trees through marketing and education. We will contribute to the success of the Christmas tree industry by providing ethical, professional and visionary leadership.

The Mount Rogers Area Christmas Tree Growers Association seeks to provide fresh, beautiful Fraser firs for families celebrating Christmas across the Americas, to be stewards of the lands which we so cherish and to protect the endangered wild Fraser fir seed source for generations to come.

Mutual Drug is a cooperative owned and operated by pharmacists.

Formed in 1974, the Turfgrass Council works to promote the turfgrass industry in North Carolina. In particular, its objective is to encourage the further study and research in turfgrasses and to represent the Council on policy issues.

The N.C. Tomato Growers Association (NCTGA) is a group of growers and suppliers interested in the improvement and promotion of the tomato industry in North Carolina.

Participating South Carolina Associations

The South Carolina Retail Association (SCRA) represents a variety of merchants in every county, both large and small, and make it a priority to give all retailers a voice in Columbia. SCRA’s mission is to improve the public image, effectiveness and profitability of the retail industry in the Palmetto state.

Participating Kentucky Associations

The Kentucky Retail Federation (KRF) is a strong advocate for the retail industry and provides value-added services and programs pertinent to their members. KRF provides government advocacy through legislative lobbying and regulatory monitoring. The Federation supports its membership through consistent communication, effective representation and ongoing education.
